If the world was coming to an end, what would you grab? Steve Carell, who stars with Keira Knightley in the new film "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World," has a pretty good idea what he'd pick up -- food. Lots of food.
"I would just grab food," he told TODAY's Ann Curry Thursday. "I would eat so much crap if I knew that we had just a couple of weeks left. Of course, then you start thinking, well, is anything going to be open? I'd love to go to a great restaurant and have a wonderful meal. ... I just want deep-fried, I want pasta, I want to carbo-load for doomsday."
That's not quite what happens in "Seeking"; instead, Carell plays a man whose wife walks out on him after they learn the world is set to end in a matter of weeks, and he opts to track down his high school sweetheart, bringing along friend Knightley and his terrier on the journey.?

"It does not sound at like a light comedy; that is what attracted me to it," said Carell. "It's a metaphor for how to live your life and finding the joy and finding those special moments and finding special people within it."
One special moment transpired between Carell and his real-life wife, Nancy Walls, who plays the wife who walks out on him in the film. And the scene -- which was taped on the couple's 16th wedding anniversary -- put an interesting spin on the interplay between the two, according to Carell.
"She shoots me this look (in the scene) and I would love a freeze-frame of it because it's scary as hell. And the director even said, 'Wow, have you seen that in your life before?' And I have, and hope to never see it again."
"Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" opens June 22.
